If you are using a version of Mac OS X prior to 10.6, Snow Leopard, these are both symptomatic of a problem in Launch Services, the part of Mac OS X responsible for locating and launching applications.

If you are using File Buddy 9 in Snow Leopard, File Buddy’s contextual menu doesn’t work in Mac OS X 10.6 because Apple dropped support for contextual menu plug-ins in 10.6. Upgrade to File Buddy 10, which is fully compatible with 10.6.

Lion won’t launch PowerPC applications. File Buddy 9 itself is universal, meaning it has code for both PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs. However, it contains some small “helper” applications that only contain PowerPC code. Lion detects this and refuses to launch File Buddy as a result. All of the aforementioned helper applications have been updated and compiled to run natively on Intel-based Macs so File Buddy 10 doesn’t have this problem.
